I noticed that recently I've been using the colour blue in my clients projects a lot - splashing it with abandon all over the walls. I just can't seem to get enough!
I’m not sure why I’ve been leaning this way of late, but I’m sure people don’t mind. Especially because apparently it’s the most popular favourite colour, not just in the UK but in the world!
It’s not surprising given the peaceful, calm qualities of the right tone of blue. It reminds me of holidays - blue skies, blue seas, what’s not to love right?
But actually, what I like most about the colour blue from an interiors perspective is the diversity it offers. This hue has the potential to evoke and compliment an impressive range of styles and moods.
The right shade of blue can be effectively used to invoke the calmest of atmospheres, whilst a classic navy can create a strong, sophisticated look. Take it even darker and you have a lovely moody abode on your hands. The breadth of styling capability of the colour blue means that it looks great in almost any room.
And to add to this, it is one of the easiest colours to style! If you decided to pair it with white, you’d be creating a crisp, classic combination.
A blue wall provides the perfect background for the recent metallic trend.
I'm also enjoying some indigo shades which bring a brilliant, natural feel to a room.
If you’re London based, I’d recommend that you go and check out one of my favourite blue spaces— The Blue Bar in the Berkley hotel. It’s a bar with a truly wonderful use of my current top hue, go visit and enjoy a cocktail or two in some beautiful surroundings!
